L3 unveils C-130 Avionics Modernization Program for C-130 variants
New York-based L3 Technologies’ Integrated Aerospace System (IAS) division has reportedly announced that it is launching a global C -130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP) based on its certified and deployed U.S. Airforce C-130 avionics solution.
As per credible sources, the modernization solution that is ready for production includes Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) avionics suite that can be installed on any C-130 variant at L3 IAS base in Waco, Texas.
Jon Piatt, Vice President and General Manager of L3’s IAS, was reportedly quoted stating that the company is the first to have the U.S. Air Force certified solutions which is flying in both U.S. and international fleets and reduces the cost, risk and time-to-field for customers having critical requirements. The company also works closely with Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex C-130 foreign military sales program and aims to provide affordable and qualified upgrade solutions, he further added.
Reportedly, L3 has over 65 years of experience as an aircraft system integrator for both U.S. air force as well as international fleet. The C-130 solutions feature a modern cockpit, fully certified air worthiness, CNS compliance and open architectures.
The company develops advance defense technology and commercial technologies like aviation security, night vision, EO/IR, maritime systems and weapons for aerospace sector. The firm reportedly recorded total sales of $10.2 billion in 2018.
For the record, the company declared on June 6 that it secured a $499 million contract by U.S. Air Force to upgrade the 176 C- 130 H aircraft under a program called C-130 Avionics Modernization Program Increment 2.
Apparently, L3 IAS facilities can upgrade and produce both fixed and rotary wing aircraft, delivering a broad range of aerospace modification and integration to keep the government, military and customers safe and ready for any crucial mission.
Reportedly, any further detail regarding the program has not been disclosed by the company.
