NTT Research unveils 8 partnerships on quantum physics, neural network

	
NTT Research has entered into five-year agreements with universities and other agencies

	 
	
The joint framework will help boost its efforts within the principles of brain science and quantum physics


Reports confirm that NTT Research, Inc., a division of NTT, has recently announced that its Physical and Informatics Lab has entered into an agreement with six universities, one private company, and one government agency.

Apparently, the PHI Lab is focusing on a new computing standard formed in the interdisciplinary field between neuroscience, quantum physics, and optical technology.

It has entered into five-year agreements with Cornell University, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Michigan, Swinburne University of Technology, NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, Stanford University, and quantum computing software company 1QBit.

According to Yoshihisa Yamamoto, NTT Research PHI Lab Director, the company hopes that this joint framework will enhance its ambition of rethinking computation within the principles of brain science and quantum physics.

Seemingly, the company has reached agreements with eight of the top research organizations of the world with expertise and interests in the three fields which is crucial to the mission, said Yamamoto. Over the next five years, the company believes the partnership will uncover new technologies and principles that develop information processing ahead of the current state of the art developments.

Each agreement classifies research subjects, one or more principal investigators (PIs), project milestones between 2019 and 2024 at the collaborating association who are responsible for content and direction of their research. The 14 Pls and co-Pls together with post-doctoral fellows, Ph.D. students, and researchers who set up the collaborating teams will perform joint experiments and research with scientists at PHI Lab of NTT Research in Palo Alto.

CEO and President of NTT Research, Kazuhiro Gomi believes these agreements show a belief that a new computing model involves teamwork, in the best and broadest way.

For the uninitiated, NTT Research has opened its Palo Alto offices in July 2019 as a new Silicon Valley startup to perform basic research and advance technologies that encourage positive change for humankind.
