Web.com Group to take over digital services provider Webcentral

Web technology major Web.com Group has reportedly announced that it has signed an agreement for the acquisition of Webcentral Group, a leading digital services provider for small and medium enterprises in Australia. The deal is an extension of the company’s strategic step to enter New Zealand, the Australian and Southeast Asian markets following its purchase of Dreamscape Networks the previous year.

According to Sharon Rowlands, the President and CEO of Web.com Group, the acquisition of Webcentral complements the company’s continued commitment to deliver market-leading web presence solutions to its worldwide customers. She has further stated that enterprises, more often, require reliable online solutions and business partners that provide desirable outcomes catering to ever-evolving business requirements. Webcentral is a natural fit for the Web.com Group’s leading web tech services and a proven long-established partner to its clientele, added Rowlands.

As per sources, Webcentral serves around 330,000 customers via its Melbourne IT, Netregistry, and WME brands. The company offers various services comprising web hosting, domain names, and digital marketing services.

Tyler Sipprelle, the Director of Web.com Group, has stated that the company is eager to welcome Webcentral to the Web.com Group. He has further stated that Web.com Group believes that it has much to provide for business establishments seeking strategic partner with online presence to support their further stage of profitable growth.

According to the CEO of Dreamscape Networks, Mark Evans, collaborating with Webcentral demonstrates the company’s dedication to strategic expansion in the region. He has further stated that through the combined resources and brands of the three groups, Web.com Group will bring more innovative and robust online solutions, and an all-inclusive product portfolio to the Australian market.

The deal is expected to be officially closed in late 2020 subject to regulatory approval and the satisfaction of the stakeholders. For the acquisition, Web.com Group has appointed Gilbert + Tobin as its legal advisor, while Webcentral has chosen Herbert Smith Freehills as its legal advisor, and Macquarie Capital as its financial advisor.
